Putting Others First | Five Questions With Jen Becher

Today, we continue our conversations with senior leaders of SS&C Black Diamond Wealth Solutions. With years of shared experience, these individuals bring a unique perspective on the wealth management industry. In this discussion, we sat down with Jen Becher, Senior Vice President, Black Diamond Client Experience, to reflect on how the industry has evolved over the last two decades and discuss what’s next for our clients.

You’ve been with SS&C for over 17 years. What first brought you here, and what’s made you stay?

I found this job through my college network while job-hunting after graduation. I had no idea at the time just how pivotal that decision would be. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities SS&C has given me over the years. It’s not lost on me how fortunate I am to work at a company that supports professional growth, in an industry that’s always evolving, and with people who challenge me daily—and are also genuinely fun to be around. They’re going to have to pry me out of this place!

How has your leadership style evolved as the company and client base have grown?

While my leadership style has certainly evolved over the years, one thing has remained constant: putting clients and teammates first. As our clients and internal teams have grown, the complexity of what we need from our service model has grown, too. I stay focused on what matters most, ensuring we’re delivering the best experience possible to the firms we support.

In your experience, what’s the value of having a long-tenured leadership team guiding Black Diamond?

We’ve been through a lot together. That history creates trust, efficiency, and a deep understanding of one another’s strengths as well as our weaknesses! It’s a unique advantage to work with people who’ve seen Black Diamond evolve and are aligned on where we’re headed. I genuinely consider it an honor to work with this leadership team every day.

As VP of Client Experience, what are you hearing most from wealth managers right now, and how is your team responding?

With over 3,000 firms using Black Diamond every day, we hear the good, the bad, and the real. However, one theme stands out: Firms want a partner they can rely on for the long haul. Our clients stay with us because we deliver on our promises, we act with their best interests in mind, and we take care of our people, who in turn take care of them.

You’ve had a direct hand in onboarding new clients for years. How has that process changed as the industry has evolved?

The onboarding process has shifted from a product-focused approach to a solutions-oriented one. Today, clients are coming to us with complex needs that span trust, CRM, compliance, rebalancing, and more. They’re looking for integrated solutions to business problems—not just standalone tools—and we’ve adapted our approach to meet that expectation.
