SS&C Deliver 2026 | Key Takeaways From the Wealth Management Track

By: Karen Sears

BACK

SS&C Deliver 2026 convened wealth management and trust professionals in Orlando for two days focused on product updates, AI, and practical strategies. A consistent theme emerged throughout the event, with technology proving most valuable when it integrates with the systems, workflows, and relationships firms already rely on.

That message was clear from the outset. The event began with a Nasdaq opening bell ceremony, marked by an enthusiastic celebration. Bill Stone, CEO of SS&C Technologies, emphasized that "Deliver" represents both the event and the company's ongoing commitment to clients in every market.

Stone also highlighted a recurring theme: SS&C's best ideas originate from its customers. This perspective was particularly evident in the discussions about AI. Rather than treating AI as separate from existing technology, speakers emphasized embedding AI within current systems and workflows, which is essential in a highly regulated industry.

From AI Exploration to Execution
AI was a frequent topic, with discussions moving beyond theory to focus on practical implementation within firms. During the SS&C Black Diamond® Wealth Solutions roadmap session, Steve Leivent and John Milne outlined new features, integrations, and enhancements to support growth, efficiency, and client experience. They emphasized that AI serves as a multiplier, not a replacement.

They also addressed concerns about a "SaaSpocalypse," pushing back on the idea that AI will undermine software platforms. Instead, they discussed how AI can enhance the usefulness and accessibility of existing systems. The roadmap also includes building a Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source, standard for connecting AI applications with the data and tools wealth managers use.

This shift was also evident in the From Exploration to Execution | AI in Practice session. Industry leaders discussed how their firms are applying AI to improve workflows and decision support, as well as the challenges of aligning AI initiatives with broader business strategies. The session emphasized the need to move beyond isolated experiments and integrate AI into daily operations.

The From Carbon Comes Clarity: The Power of Black Diamond AI session focused on current Black Diamond platform capabilities, such as faster insights, streamlined workflows, and natural-language interaction with client data. The session also previewed new agentic capabilities in development. For current Black Diamond users, the session demonstrated how AI is becoming more integrated with the platform and daily advisor workflows.

Technology Meets Complexity
AI was only part of the discussion. The track also examined how technology helps wealth and trust professionals meet increasingly complex client needs.

From Hard Problems to Hidden Value addressed the challenges of managing unique assets, such as real estate, mineral rights, and closely held entities within modern trust platforms. The discussion highlighted how technology and process improvements help firms manage complexity and maintain differentiated service.

The track also explored the people and organizational aspects of wealth management. Women in Wealth: Influence and Impact featured leaders from across wealth management discussing leadership, client engagement, and the industry's response to evolving client expectations.

Collectively, these discussions reinforced that technology is only one component. Systems must support the people, processes, and client relationships that drive business success.

Building for Growth
Day 2 began with a fireside chat between Bill Stone and David Booth, Founder and Chairman of Dimensional Fund Advisors. Booth discussed his approach to modern portfolio construction, and the conversation addressed discipline, diversification, and long-term investment strategies.

Subsequent sessions expanded the discussion, covering ETF innovation in wealth and retirement markets, succession planning during leadership transitions, and Black Diamond Investment Management Services, including model delivery, unified managed accounts, and tax-aware strategies.

In Focus: Key Black Diamond Capabilities provided attendees a closer look at features highlighted in the roadmap session. M&A in Practice concluded the breakout sessions with an interview on the practical challenges of integrating systems, teams, and client experiences after an acquisition.

Together, these sessions provided a view of building and operating a modern wealth management business. While new technology matters, investment discipline, succession planning, integration, and a consistent client experience are equally critical.

Throughout the event, one message came through consistently. Technology's value depends on how well it integrates with firms' existing operations. For Black Diamond, this means continuing to develop AI and other capabilities within a platform designed around the needs of wealth management firms, their teams, and clients. The discussions at Deliver highlighted both the future direction and current applications of new technology.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation in Orlando.
